How will you lot attempt to protect yourselves?People will think that, in order to protect themselves from the plague, they must live a moderate lifestyle, avoiding any and all superfluity and freelancing. They must never please themselves and live abiding to rules. They will think this will spare them getting included into the rising epidemic. They will even form small communities that stick to this lifestyle vigorously, living separately from everyone and shutting themselves up in their houses and any sick would be forced to leave. They would avoid news or talk about death and sickness, and pass the time with music and merriment.Others thought, that, in order to avoid the plague, they must live the opposite of the lifestyle i just described and live with superfluity and do as much freelancing as possible. They would be merry and joke about everything. Take everything to jest, offensive or not. They will do only things that please them and drink. A LOT. Bu they also avoided the sick as much as possible. They will disregard laws and the authority of the law will fall. Some people will live in the middle of the two lifestyles described above and live in a way that pleases them, but not to the point of merriment and still be moderate. Others, the few, will flee the cities completely, leaving everything and everyone behind. This was considered cruel. Everyone in the cities will wear herbs and perfumes to keep away the smell of the death and (hopefully) the plague itself.

Did their attempts work????Nope. Not even close. Their attempts actually helped spread the plague. AND, it opened them up to new infections. Wonderful huh? But it think it is because they don't know how to properly protect themselves. Today's methods have been quite effective so far.

What do people today do to protect themselves?
Well for one, we don't handle dead animals with our bare hands if we can help it. We wear eye protection sometimes too. This is because the animal could have fleas on it, and if the fleas get on you, you're pretty much screwed. Avoid rodents and their droppings. Seems relatively easy, but its really not cause those little buggers get everywhere. Just avoid them as much as you can. And their poop has all kinds of diseases that I don't even want to think about going into so just avoid it all kay? Keep insect bites under control and try to avoid them as much as you can. They can spread the disease too, even if it isn't a flea. We get rid of all fleas in our house using insecticides, but you might have to use different methods (see link at the bottom of this article for more information). Avoid touching tissues, dirty clothes, anything that could have been touched by the person or have their body fluids on it, and avoid direct contact with body fluids. Keep a minimum of three feet between you and the infected person at all times. Wash your hands regularly and avoid touching your face in general. Take baths regularly too. Seriously people learn what the meaning of bathtub is.
